Four young men standing and crouching in front of a fountain at night in a park, with tall buildings illuminated in the background.

Originating in Meanjin/Brisbane and now firmly rooted in Naarm/Melbourne, The Halves have built a reputation for emotionally charged alternative rock that balances the urgency of post-punk with the expansive melodies of indie rock. Equal parts abrasive and anthemic, their music lives in the space between catharsis and restraint, pairing driving guitars with introspective songwriting that continues to evolve with every release.

Following the release of their self-titled debut EP, The Halves return with Opus - a six-track collection that broadens the band's sonic and emotional scope. From the relentless intensity of Trackstar to the euphoric optimism of Grace and the reflective vulnerability of Replacement, Opus reveals a band increasingly confident in embracing contrast without sacrificing the raw energy that first defined them.

That same intensity carries onto the stage. Renowned for explosive live performances, The Halves have shared stages with artists including Swapmeet, Full Flower Moon Band, The Velvet Club and more, while earning support from ABC RAGE, Triple J Unearthed, Spotify and Apple Music. As their audience continues to grow nationwide, they've established themselves as one of Australia's most exciting emerging alternative acts.

Comprised of Tim Hardy, Chris White, Sam Sanders and Rory Watkins, The Halves continue to push beyond the boundaries of contemporary post-punk, pairing ambitious songwriting with an uncompromising live show as they enter their next chapter with Opus.
